You are the love of my son's life

part of the Poetry Hivemind series

Today let's do some role-playing: Pretend to be your favorite cup and write about a day in the life of that cup. Think about scale and perspective.

You are the love of my son's life
and my friend. When you take me down
and put me to your lips and sip
the insides of my brain, I cannot help
but think how full you are of me,
how rich our synergy, how well-trod
our conversations. They are a blessing
in my old age, and my son is lucky
to be with you, dear heart. I only wish
I could consume you, too.
