There is a dream on my mind

(189)

I woke up emerging from the long tunnel of sleep
though I lingered a while in its mouth testing
the light on the backs of my eyes like slipping
into a pool slowly so the cold doesn’t overwhelm
the body
the shock of it folding into my bones
spiraling out the ends like
                              a magnetic field
the dream made itself known to me then sneaking
up behind me it tapped me on the shoulder but when
I turned around the sun rose over the hillock
turning the darkness into nothing more than dust
and rocks dusted over
                        the damp hanging from
the ceiling
            clinging like
a fly caught in a web
and escaping but falling dead to the ground
