Teeth

How do your teeth feel inside your head?
Are they tombstones or pillars? Do they grind
like millstones or like a flipped car
sliding across the asphalt?
How do you use your teeth? Do you eat
or whistle? Spit or gargle? Consider
your answer. Chew on it, if you will
pardon the pun, like cud. Swish it in your mouth
and spit. Watch it disappear down
the drain. Leaving, the receptionist
gives you a goody-bag full of other teeth,
other ideas. Pack them in your bag for later.
Just don’t think to much about the ones
in your mouth right now, knocking around
like oars untethered from a ship’s hull.
